Miss Mary's Children's Parade

This year we took Carli to the Children's Parade in Downtown Kernersville.  Our flier said it was to start at 9.  We arrived just before, but they were not even finished getting ready.  So we headed over to the Kernersville Farmers Market to browse before heading back to Town Hall.

After getting Carli "registered", we let her loose to run around and play.  It was an hour before all things were set up.  Lots of kids were getting restless and all of us were extremely HOT!  Carli enjoyed running around on the grounds touching everything she could find.  She even had her picture taken to possibly be in the newspaper.

Finally, at 10, the events were started.  Miss Mary told them a story, the National Anthem was sung, and "Miss Fourth of July" was crowned. Then the parade started.  Carli was all gung-ho until the Subway Man (some guy in a sub costume) got in line behind her.  Then she would have nothing to do with the parade. Oh well...she had a good time.

Vacation Bible School

This week Carli went to VBS at Morris Chapel.  She has been every year since she was born, but this year was the first year she seemed to actually get something from it.  She would come home talking about going to storytime and music.  She of course enjoyed playing with her friends, new and old, on the playground.

Thursday night was the program of songs the kids learned that week.  Carli didn't sing, but she did do some of the hand motions to some of the songs.  It made me tear up to watch her do them.  She is really growing up.

After the program, the girls (who raised the most money in offering during the week) won the chance to have Joe slimed.  Carli was able to help and really enjoyed doing it.  She not only helped to pour it on him, but would dip her hands inside and then hit Joe on the head.

After the sliming, Joe and Carli went into the fire truck spray to cool off and get clean.  What a great ending to VBS.  Can't wait to see what she learns next year.

Corn on the Cob

For the last few times Mommy has eaten corn, Carli has asked for some and eaten quite a bit of it.  Tonight, we fixed corn on the cob.  Unsure of how she would answer, we asked if she would like some.  "Yep," was the quick reply.  We put her an ear in a bowl and gave it to her. Not hesitating once it was cool, Carli picked up the ear and began to gnaw at it. She kept eating and turning that ear like she had been doing it for years.

all done...not bad for her first time

The next night, she asked for more corn.  Too bad we didn't have any to give her.
