Eight
Hard to believe that my baby is 8 years old. Eight years since I first met that sweet little face and held her close. Eight years since my life was changed forever. Where has the time gone? She is definitely growing up to have a mind of her own. She is growing more and more independent everyday. But, she is still little enough that she wants her Mommy or Daddy to be with her when she does things.
We were afraid that the weather was going to mess up everything. Icy roads were in the forecast, but they held off and we were able to celebrate. Her birthday was very low keyed this year, with just dinner with her grandparents. Her favorite item, spaghetti, was on the menu with chocolate cake (made by herself) for dessert. Gifts were mostly money since a trip to the American Girl Store in Charlotte is on the menu for Monday.
Happy Birthday, my beautiful little girl. I love you very, very much!

Second Grade!
How can my sweet little girl be in the second grade already. She has a mind of her own. The clothes I like, she doesn't. But at least she still likes for me to sew for her.
Carli's teacher this year is Mrs. McCracken. She was so excited to find out that several of her friends are in her class this year, including Cora Panico, who has been a friend since birth.
Here are the second grade pictures we had made (because I hate the school ones).

Sweet, Sassy, Seven
Last Sunday, Carli turned seven years old. Can't believe it! Hasn't been that long since she was born, was it?
Birthday celebrations began at school. Carli had a special hat from Mrs. Musten and took doughnuts for her classmates.
She was excited that God gave her an early birthday gift of 8 inches of SNOW! She loved playing in it with her friend next door, Quinn.
Carli woke up early on her birthday and opened her gifts. Later that night, pasta was made since we were unable to go to her favorite place to eat it.
Because of the snow, Carli's party had to be postponed until the following Saturday. The theme was a non-sleepover pajama party. The girls wore their PJs and brought sleeping bags. They ate popcorn while watching a Barbie movie. Birthday cupcakes finished off the party. The girls had lots of fun giggling and playing together.

First Visit from the Tooth Fairy
Early this morning, Carli told me her tooth was a little loose. After feeling it, I told her it was a little loose and it might take a few days to come out. She wiggled and wiggled and wiggled it all day. When Joe got home, he offered to pull it. It only took a bit for her to agree. Joe had trouble because it was so small, but he finally got it. Carli didn't feel a thing. After putting it into her pillow and going to bed, she awoke to find a five dollar bill complete with pixie dust on it.

Christmas 2016
What a busy month this was. It all started with the Christmas program at Morris Chapel. Carli graduated from the smaller Sunday School groups to the children's program. She was a camel this year. It warmed my heart to see her singing those songs.
I surprised Carli one day by being the Mystery Reader in her class. I read one of my favorite books The Year of the Perfect Christmas Tree,
I was blessed to be able to attend Carli's class party this year. There were crafts and food for all the kids.
Christmas with the Herndon clan was a little smaller this year than other years, but it was great to see those who were able to come. Carli loves her cousins so much!
Just before Christmas JAM held its annual Pancakes, Pajamas, and Pictures with Santa. After reassuring Carli she didn't need to sit on his lap, Carli agreed to a picture with Santa.
Then we had Christmas!
Christmas Eve was a little different. Grandbaby Grayson decided he wanted to be born for Christmas. Dinner was just us, Grandma, and PawPaw. Austin and Rose arrived after dinner. Kyle, Hunter and finally Meredith showed up later.
