Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to all our friends and family!

We were not sure if Carli would be able to celebrate Easter this year or not.  Early Saturday morning, Carli woke us up really sick.  She had that virus that had been running around at Mommy's school.  In fact, Mommy had it a few weeks ago.  Carli has always been healthy, but this virus did a number on her.  She didn't eat all day and laid around and wanted to be held most of the time.  We were not sure if she would be well on Sunday or not, but she got up and wanted milk and muffins.  We were so glad she felt better!

Earlier in the week, Carli's preschool celebrated Easter with an egg hunt.  It was all she could talk about for the days leading to the hunt.  She ran inside on Thursday with her bucket to show to everyone.  When she came home, she talked about it all night.  The bucket went everywhere with her on that day too.

Sunday morning, the Easter Bunny had visited our house.  Carli was excited to see her new basket he brought filled with lots of Hello Kitty stuff-crayons, coloring books, stickers, a notepad, and a bag to hold the crayons.  He also brought books, a chocolate bunny, and jewelry hidden inside the plastic eggs. 

At church, the children's choir sang, "He Arose".  Carli, true to form, just stood there looking around.  She might not have sung, but she was pretty standing there in her white robe. 

After lunch, Poppie, PawPaw, and Miss Sam (the children's minister from church) came for lunch.  Poor Grandma was sick and couldn't come.  Carli was quiet during lunch and wouldn't talk to anyone, especially Miss Sam.  But after lunch, when everyone was gone, Carli and Miss Sam had a fun time playing with Carli's new rings the bunny brought.

Our family hopes everyone has a wonderful Easter and remembers why we celebrate-our Lord was crucified, but arose from the dead!  Hallelujah!!

Cabbage Planting

The third graders at PGE were given cabbage plants to plant.  There were some left over, so I brought one home for Carli to plant and watch grow.  These cabbages are supposed to grow very big.  Tonight, Carli helped her daddy plant it in the yard.  She had a lot of fun digging in the dirt.

Three Year Old Check Up

Carli went to see Dr. Walker today for her yearly checkup.  She is "perfect".  She is still a little thing-only 28.5 pounds (25 percentile) and 35 inches tall (6th percentile).  She wasn't too sure about Dr. Walker and didn't talk to him much, but she did let him check her out.

Snow Day

Last night, we got about 3-4 inches of snow.  While it was snowing, Joe took Carli out to look at it.  She wasn't impressed and was ready to go back inside the house.

This morning, I showed Carli the snow and asked if she wanted to go out and play for a little while.    "YES!" was the quick reply.  So we bundled up in our warm coats, mittens, and boots and headed outside.  I was worried how she would react since the last time it snowed, she cried and didn't like it at all!  Today was completely different.  She had a blast.  She made a "snowball" which was just putting a bunch of snow in her hands and threw it.  She even made a snow angel.  I think she likes snow now.

Carli's First Trip to the Dentist

Today was Carli's first trip to the dentist.  We were a little nervous about how she would do since she is not doing well with people she doesn't know.  I checked out books from our school library about going to the dentist and we read several during the week.  We talked about how she would look inside her mouth to see how her teeth were growing.  I told her she would put her fingers inside her mouth.  We saw pictures of the instruments that would be used.

Thursday, Joe picked up Carli from preschool and took her to see Dr. Amy Jo.  When Carli got in the chair, the hygienist told her about the tools she was going to use. She called the tooth brush a tickle monster.  Then she pulled out some nice hooks and touched each one of her teeth and counted all of her teeth.  Then she tried to clean Carli's teeth, but she wouldn't let her until she  tasted the bubblegum flavored tooth polish.  She showed Carli the water pistol that shot water into her mouth.  Then she showed her the suction monster that sucked all the water out of her mouth.  Carli didn't like it, so Carli swallowed the water.  The hygienist let Carli play with the suction tube.  Then she went over to the table and got a piece of string and asked Carli what it was.  Carli knew it was dental floss.  Then she painted fluoride on her teeth after telling Carli it would be sticky.  Carli did very well as it was applied.  

After the cleaning, Carli played with the tools while waiting for Dr. Amy Jo.  When Amy Jo came in, she said this was the first time meeting Carli after hearing so much about her.  Amy Jo checked her teeth and said she had beautiful teeth.  Carli was given a goodie bag with a new Disney princess tooth brush and tooth paste inside.  She couldn't wait to get home to show it to Mommy.

Happy Birthday to Carli!

Today Carli turned three years old!  Where have the years gone?

Sunday,  we gave a party for Carli with her family.  Carli was in her element.  She was running around talking to everyone!  She was never still.  When it was time for cake, she was all over it.  She had a little trouble blowing out the candles.  She has still not gotten the concept of "blowing" out.  She still spits a little.

This morning, Carli was up and raring to go!  We took raisins for her class to share in celebration of her day which made her happy.  She said they sang "Happy Birthday" to her.

Tonight, we had small presents from us and a cupcake for her to celebrate.  My favorite was when she had the cupcake and told us we needed to sing to her.  Then she wouldn't let us!

Happy Birthday to my special little girl!  Our lives are so enriched and blessed with you in it!  We hope to continue to love you and celebrate birthdays with your for many years to come!

Merry Christmas!

It was so fun and exciting with Carli and her third Christmas.  This year, she really began to understand what Christmas was all about.  She knew who the baby Jesus was (not really why he came), who Santa Claus was and that he was coming to bring her presents.  She still would have nothing to do with him though.  We never could get out of her what she wanted.  Every time we asked her, "'What is Santa going to bring you?" she would only say "presents".  So Joe and I were left to our own devices.

The holiday season began with Carli's first preschool performance.  Due to my health issues, I was unable to attend, but Joe was there ready to go with the camera.  Carli was good, until she saw him.  Then she wouldn't stay with her group, teachers, or sing the songs (which she knew and sang over and over at home!).  She kept running back and forth from the class to Joe.

When the tree was put up, Carli was fascinated with it.  She took ornaments off over and over again.  She loved to look at the lights around town and kissing the Tigger and Pooh blowups in our yard.

Next up, was the Christmas program at church.  This year, the two year olds were singing and doing motions to "Away in a Manger".  Carli knew these and did them all the time at home.  But, like in preschool, when it came time for the performance, she only stood there dancing around.

The Saturday before Christmas was the Herndon family get together.  Carli was a little shy since she didn't really know everyone that was there, but she played and had a good time.

Christmas Eve was the Laws family get together.  Carli loved seeing her cousins again and playing with them.  She really loved getting presents and new toys to play with!

Christmas morning was so fun!  Santa brought Carli an easel and put it under a sheet over it to hide it from her.  Carli came into the living room, running, but stopped short when she saw the sheet.  None of us could coax her into unwrapping any presents from Santa.  Austin even brought one to her and she would have nothing to do with it.  After opening his gifts, Austin got Carli and helped her pull the sheet off her easel.  That was all it took.  She tore open her gifts and giggled and laughed often!  We can only think that she thought Santa was under the sheet.  Hope he never does something like that again!
